Khaba ("the soul appears") chose a different burial site, a mile south of Giza. He built the layer pyramid, but was not buried in it. His name was found on some stone vessels in nearby mastabas, but there is no reference to him inside the structure. His pyramid used typically 3rd dynasty building techniques, and was very similar to Sekhemkhet's pyramid.
