Snefru ("he of beauty") was a son of Huni by a minor wife. He married Hetepheres, the daughter of Huni (by another wife) to cement his position. His expeditions into the Lebanon to fetch cedar wood are recorded in the Palermo stone.
He built three large pyamids, one at Meidum, two at Dashur, and a small pyramid at Seila.
